Not being an awards person, just wanted to stick in my little tiny, inconsequential oar after the event and say I'm just a tad sad that Sally Hawkins didn't get nominated for her performance in Happy-Go-Lucky - after Wall-e, was certainly my film of the year, the best Mike Leigh has directed and years...

Pleased Danny Boyle did so well - he really deserved it...

Anyhoo, I'm off to hide back under my rock.

After actually watching Milk.... I'm glad that Sean Penn got that Oscar. I mean... He really did become Harvey Milk. I'm still disappointed... but he earned it.

Penn is magnificent as Milk, but Mickey Rourke deserved every bit of that Oscar.  Even Penn knew it, and acknowledged it on stage during his acceptance speech.

And, Boat, you've got to appreciate the sick burn that Tina Fey and Steve Martin got in there about Scientology! Laugh

I can't really remember what it was now, but I did enjoy Tina and Steve's bit when I watched it.  I really like Tina Fey in everything (except Baby Mama  Dead ) despite her being a Hilary-loving, girlpower-hungry treehugger.

The Oscars have been a huge sham ever since the whole Denzel for Training Day and Halle Berry for Monster Ball fiasco.  If that wasn't set up I don't know what is.  The panel has not dignity whatsoever.  Denzel should've won for anything outside his role in Training Day.  Halle Berry is not a winner EVER.

Boat, I couldn't agree with you more especially about Halle Berry. What a farce, I don't think she is a very good actress. As far fech how this sounds, I would be surprised is Oprah BOUGHT the Award for Halle Berry.
